On Jobs and Dreams
Ever since I started working a full-time magazine job, I’ve been passing out before 9 p.m. each night. I literally fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, sometimes even skipping dinner in favor of extra snoozing. As a result, my DVR is full of shows to watch and
a three-foot high pile of months-old, unread magazines sits on my counter. Also, I’ve been having some pretty vivid dreams.
I’m usually a fitful sleeper, waking each hour when the neighbor’s dog barks or the late-night construction starts up down the street. However, my sheer exhaustion has led to fewer disruptions in my drowsing, which means I’ve been getting more REM sleep, upping my chances of intense dreams.
But my night visions have been anything but garden variety. So in an effort to both decode my inner psyche and provide readers with a bit of entertainment at my own expense, I consulted an online dream dictionary to provide insight into two of my recent nighttime notions.
